SWARA has created a network of artificial reefs that are close to shore and conveniently positioned adjacent to popular public beach access points.
Explore UMA - the nation's first permanent underwater sculpture exhibition! ~ 7 new sculptures coming Summer 2023! ~
Since 2017, SWARA has deployed over 1000 individual reef modules at 13 different sites. These Nearshore Fish/Dive Reefs dot the coast from Inlet Beach to Miramar Beach, resting in about 60 fsw. Each site consists of a combination of 8' tetrahedrons -- three-sided pyramids --, "grouper boxes" topped with eco-towers, and a central "Super Pyramid" -- a giant 25' tall "Super Reef" that weighs over 50,000 lbs. that attracts marine species of all sizes....even Goliath Grouper!
Our natural hard-bottom reefs hold an abundance of marine life, but are a bit farther offshore (~5-10 miles) resting between 60-90 fsw. These are generally great spots for spearfishing and lionfish hunting!
Our freshwater springs are a treat for any diver!
Please Note: Tanks & Weights are included with all Dive Charters.

All of the dive sites we visit are inhabited by a wide range of interesting marine life. You can dive down and find small, colorful reef fish on the structure or swim between the towers and get surrounded by large schools of small baitfish. It’s not uncommon to see Bottlenose dolphins, sea turtles, and Eagle rays in the vicinity of the reefs. Venture out deeper and you’ll notice subtle differences in the fish and other creatures you’re seeing. Swim out over the sand to get a wider view of the bait swarms. There’s no limit to what you might discover during your tour!
Our Divemasters and Instructors
are passionate about South Walton’s reefs and have a thorough knowledge of our local marine ecology and diving. They can answer all of your questions about the reefs, snorkeling, and SCUBA diving.
Our Divemasters & Instructors are:
Tanks & Weights are included with all Dive Charters. Any additional gear you may need is available for rent. This includes masks, snorkels, fins, BCs, regulators, dive computers, and wetsuits. We have a range of sizes for adults, but our Kids' gear is limited. On the boat we carry De-Fog, extra sunscreen, water cooler, basic first aid kit (incl jellyfish sting neutralizer), and a small drybag to protect mobile phones and other valuables.
We recommend that all guests bring a comfortable swimsuit, sunglasses, beach towel, waterproof sunscreen, and a small waterproof camera, if available (disposable, GoPro, etc.)
Restrooms are available across the street from where the boat meets -- the public restrooms beside Hurricane's Oyster Bar and/or Black Bear Bread Co.'s restrooms... There are no facilities available on the dive boat, so we recommend taking care of business before we embark.
Yes. All divers participating in our regular Dive Charters must be at least 12 years old and have a valid Open Water Diver certification from an accredited SCUBA agency!
If it's been awhile since you've been diving, let us know ~~~
*Children aged 10-11 are restricted to our Snorkel Reefs and/or the freshwater springs (due to max depth limitations)*
Well obviously you'll need to be certified.... but we don't have any requirements for minimum logged dives or anything like that. We regularly take our Open Water students diving in the Gulf for their final checkout dives (Dives 3 & 4). Plus there will be a Divemaster present on every dive! So whether you're a newbie or an old crusty pirate, you can rest easy, even if it's been awhile since your last dive.
YES, absolutely!
Our crew keeps your safety front of mind from the moment we meet you to when we say "See y'all next time!"
Onboard: We carry drinking water, PFDs, mobile phones, marine radio, GPS, fire extinguisher, flares, first aid kit, and of course, emergency O2.
We share the marine environment with a wide-range of animal life. Jellyfish are sometimes present and some species of jellyfish can cause a painful sting. Barnacles are present on the reef towers and if accidentally kicked, their sharp edges can cause cuts. We encourage all of our guests to exercise caution while snorkeling. We carry a neutralizing solution on board to treat jellyfish stings and a first aid kit to quickly treat minor injuries, should either occur.
As dedicated stewards of our marine environment, we adhere to the maxim “Take Nothing But Pictures, Leave Nothing But Bubbles.” We do not allow our guests to take or harvest any living organisms from their dives. (Now if you're on a Spearo Charter, it's a whole different story...)
We strongly discourage interfering with any marine life. Your Divemaster can answer any questions you might have and will happily point out cool marine life!
Like most coastal communities, South Walton experiences marine weather conditions that can change very quickly; rapidly improving or deteriorating and forcing us to make a last-minute call. We will do our best to notify you of inclement weather at the soonest opportunity and, if necessary, work with you to reschedule your Dive Charter for another date/time. Our guest’s safety is our first priority and your Captain and/or Divemaster has the final say.
*PLEASE NOTE! We do assess a $10/person non-refundable booking fee in the event of a refund. See below for details.*
Almost all Dive Charter cancellations are weather-related. If your Dive Charter is cancelled due to weather (or equipment issues on our side), we will work with you to reschedule for a different time/date. If we are unable to reschedule your trip, we will issue a full refund* (minus 'booking fee') .
We require ADVANCE NOTICE for all other cancellation/refund requests. If we receive your cancellation request in advance of your scheduled booking:
- by at least 48 hours, you're eligible for a full refund* (minus 'booking fee')
- by at least 24 hours, you're eligible for a 50% refund* (minus 'booking fee')
Cancellation requests made within 24 hours of scheduled bookings are not eligible for refunds and these individuals and/or groups may be considered 'No-Shows'.
If you booked through our website, you can call (850) 460-1442 and/or email info@dive30a.com to request a refund. If you did not book directly through dive30a.com, please contact the agency you booked your tour with to request a refund.
We do NOT issue refunds for:
Happy to! First off, it's important to note that the '$10/person non-refundable booking fee' is NOT an additional fee. It's already in included in your booking price and only gets deducted in the event of a refund.
The reasoning behind this fee is that pretty much ALL of our business is dependent on favorable weather and sea conditions, which, unfortunately, we can't always guarantee. Retaining a small portion of booking proceeds (again, only in the event of a refund) makes it easier for us to cover the staff, equipment, and administrative costs involved with constantly morphing our schedule around favorable weather windows, which ultimately allows us to offer our customers the most open and flexible booking options. You must accept this fee in order to book with us.
*only applies to new bookings -->> does not apply to rebookings...
**if you've booked by mistake or need to make an adjustment, please just call or email.
